F4 (British F4 and FIA F4)

What it is

F4 is the FIA's entry-level category for single-seaters, raced in national championships in the UK and around the world. The cars have wings and slick tyres, so they introduce downforce and setup work while staying approachable for drivers fresh out of karts.

Who it suits

Young drivers stepping up from karting, usually in their mid-teens, who are aiming at the international single-seater ladder.
